PN | Weekly #2: February 15th
“If your orientation is to take the temperature of the world around you before tapping into the fire inside you, you will never unlock your potential”MICHAEL GERVAIS, THE FIRST RULE OF MASTERY |
Philosopher-Heroes!
I hope you had a GREAT week!
Eleanor turned 9 on Feb 9 which was both awesome and a humbling reminder of how fast time flies when you’re having fun! (Emerson is now 13 which is nuts. 🥜 !)
Before we do a quick recap of last week’s Notes and a quick look ahead of next week’s, I want to let you know that one of my favorite people on the planet just released a new book.
That friend is Sonja Lyubomirsky.
Sonja is one of THE most respected well-being researchers. We’ve featured her two previous books: The How of Happiness and The Myths of Happiness.
Her NEW book came out last week. It’s called How to Feel Loved: The Five Mindsets That Get You More of What Matters Most.
It’s AWESOME. I will be sharing a Note on it soon but wanted to give you a heads-up now!
Now…
For the quick re-cap and quick look ahead:
We’re kind of on a roll.
Last week we featured:
- Ryan Holiday’s Right Thing Right Now, the third book in his Stoic Virtue Series. This one’s on Justice (or LOVE!). The fourth is on Wisdom—we’ll be featuring that soon.
- Michael Gervais’s The First Rule of Mastery. The first rule? Beware of FOPO! Aka your “fear of people’s opinions” and go give us all you’ve got.
- Ben Hardy’s Be Your Future Self Now. My goodness I LOVE Ben. Check out those Notes for the SCIENCE of connecting to your Future Self. (Another Note on the subject soon. Crazy powerful.)
- Dan Siegel’s The Power of Showing Up. One of my all-time favorite parenting books. I have 4 more Notes I’m hammering on Dan’s parenting books along with Notes on a dozen total Parenting books coming soon. Life-changing goodness.
- Jefferson Fisher’s The Next Conversation. Legit best book on communication I’ve ever read. MUST READ, folks. But only if you want to “talk more, argue less.” Enjoy the Notes!
- Gary Chapman’s The Five Love Languages. Dropped this on Valentine’s Day and shared Alexandra and my love origin story—and the fact we got “divorced” before we got married then learned how to STAND IN LOVE after the buzz of “falling” in love wore off. This book helped!
Next week the wisdom-party train rolls on.
(Yes, I’m working harder than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest staying ahead of the insane pace I set for myself to see if we can hit 1,000 Notes by the end of the year! 😲🤯🤓 )
