New PN: True and False Magic

A Tools Workbook
by Phil Stutz

“Rudolf Steiner said that the basis of human behavior is simple: The default position is fear and laziness. This is why it is so hard for people to change. I’ve come to believe that he’s right, and that these two qualities define core avoidance."
PHIL STUTZ

FROM THE BOOK
“Some of my patients tell me that I can do things for them that they think are magic.

In this book, I’m going to teach you how to do this work with yourself. I will give you a process, a protocol, to create real magic. Not fake magic, but real magic.

This book isn’t about symptom amelioration; it’s about getting you in motion, really into motion, in your life.

This is a training program where everyone ends up with the same skills. My first book, The Tools, was about addressing a symptom: You have a symptom; we have a tool that will make the symptom go away, or at least attenuate it. That’s good, but it’s not good enough. This is a global training program. It’s the same program for everybody. This doesn’t obviate that everybody has an individualistic life, and that the superficial details of someone’s life are completely different from someone else’s. But it does insist that there are universal ways to engage with higher forces and move forward.”

Brian's Notes
I love Phil Stutz.

If you’ve been following along, you know that I’ve been working one-on-one with Phil for nearly 10 years. We’re approaching 500 coaching sessions. No one person (other than Alexandra!) has impacted my thinking more than Phil. He is my spiritual father. My Yoda.

I’ve done Notes on each of his prior books. We started with his first book The Tools, then we covered Coming Alive. He wrote both of those books with Barry Michels.

Then we covered Lessons for Living—which was the most “Phil” of all his books. Reading that book felt like having a conversation/coaching session with him. That’s how I felt reading this book as well. It’s FANTASTIC.

As you’d expect, it is PACKED (!) with Big Ideas. We will BARELY scratch the surface of the wisdom in this book. If you want to get a glimpse at some of the wisdom that has most profoundly affected me and my work, this is a MUST READ. Get a copy here.

As always, I’m excited to share a few of my favorite, most life-changing Big Ideas with you. Let’s get to work!

P.S. If you haven’t watched the Netflix documentary featuring Phil yet, check it out. It’s appropriately called Stutz. It stars Phil and another one of the guy’s whose life he changed: Jonah Hill. Jonah created it to help spread Phil’s wisdom and iconoclastic style. It’s a wonderful movie that I think (and hope!) you will enjoy.

P.P.S. I’m honored that Phil wrote the foreword to my book, Areté: Activate Your Heroic Potential in which he generously (!) said: “This book will change your life. And, if enough of us commit, it will change the world.”
