We tend to speak our primary love language, and we become confused when our spouse does not understand what we are communicating. We are expressing our love, but the message does not come through because we are speaking what, to them, is a foreign language. Therein lies the fundamental problem, and it is the purpose of this book to offer a solution. That is why I dare to write another book on love. Once we discover the five basic love languages and understand our own primary love language, as well as the primary love language of our spouse, we will then have the needed information to apply the ideas in the books and articles. Once you identify and learn to speak your spouse’s primary love language, I believe that you will have discovered the key to a long-lasting, loving marriage. Love need not evaporate after the wedding, but in order to keep it alive most of us will have to put forth the effort to learn a secondary love language. We cannot rely on our native tongue if our spouse does not understand it. If we want him/her to feel the love we are trying to communicate, we must express it in his or her primary love language.” |

I read this book FOREVER ago. I reread it so I could do this Note.
Fun story... I smiled when I pulled this book out of the stack of 101 books sitting on my desk that I’ve read that are waiting for me to Note-ify them. On the cover of this book, there’s a tiny little sticker in the corner that says: “MADE IN INDONESIA.”
Why in the world would my copy of this book have a sticker that says THAT? Well, it’s a long story but here’s the short version of it.
Once upon a time (over 17 years ago to be precise), I sold my second business and had enough to take a few years off to read and write and think and teach. I moved to Bali where I created my first 100 Notes and taught twice a week at a yoga studio in Ubud called The Yoga Barn.
I got goosebumps typing that because there are members of our community I met in that yoga studio nearly two decades ago. (Bless you. The fun has just begun!)
Now... I went to Bali with a wonderful woman. We were engaged. We ended that engagement. She flew home. Then... A few months later, she flew back. I’m now married to that woman. (Now I have tears in my eyes.)
That wonderful woman who is now my Wifey, brought THIS book with her.
And THAT is why, when we shipped a crate of our stuff home, they slapped a “MADE IN INDONESIA” sticker on the cover of this book.
Over 20 MILLION (!) copies of this book have been sold.
It’s a fantastic, quick-reading book that definitely played a role in helping Alexandra and me forge a relationship that has endured for nearly 19 years!
