Process of Pivoting by Esther & Jerry Hicks
“So the Pivoting Process is simply: Whenever you recognize that you are feeling a negative emotion (it is really that you are feeling the lack of harmony with something that you want), the obvious thing for you to do is to stop and say, I’m feeling negative emotion, which means I am not in harmony with something that I want. What do I want?” ~ Esther and Jerry Hicks from Money, and the Law of Attraction
The Process of Pivoting is GENIUS. (Yes, all caps. It’s that good.)
The underlying philosophy of Abraham-Hicks is that we’re here in the world to feel good. We have an underlying freedom to choose how we want to live, and, they say, that as we make living with joy our top priority, we’ll experience an expansion of our spirit and growth toward higher and higher ideals. Now, as we seek this joy and leverage our freedom to choose, learning to “pivot” is incredibly powerful.
Here’s the deal: whenever you feel bad, you just learned something very important—you learned how you don’t want to feel and what you don’t want. Right? Now, in that moment of knowing what you don’t want, why not ask yourself “Alrighty. So, I clearly don’t want that!! What DO I want?!?”
That very (!!) simple process of becoming aware of what you don’t want, acknowledging it and then asking yourself what you DO want is remarkably (!!) powerful. They call it “The Process of Pivoting.”
Try it right now. What’s stressing you out? You thinking about how you’re short of cash? Or that you’re unhappy in your relationship? Well, if you keep on unconsciously focusing on that, you’re pretty much going to continue to get more of it (a la the Law of Attraction we’ll cover in a moment). If, however, you begin to consistently ask yourself “what do I want?” you’ll immediately raise your energy TOWARD that which you want rather than toward that which you don’t want. (Try it now!)
