Seriously.
At what point do you want to re-write the narrative of your childhood so it serves you most powerfully? (Now, perhaps? :)
I’m not saying you should pretend that your dad wasn’t a frightening alcoholic who scared the heck out of you at times and with whom you never had one conversation (like mine).
I’m just suggesting that you think about the lessons learned, the beauty.
Obviously, our biggest challenges are what forged us. So why wouldn’t we have a deep, deep appreciation for it all? And celebrate the childhood that birthed our souls?!?
I can now appreciate the depth of my own dad’s sensitivity that he just couldn’t handle. I can appreciate how hard he worked to give us what we had. I can appreciate so much …
